OOTD: The Mermicorn Bomber

The Mermicorn Bomber Jacket from Rock On Ruby

Dear Blog readers, allow me to introduce you to The Mermicorn... She is Magical and Fierce.

This outfit is one that I wore when I headed down to London recently for the Open Door event with Not On The High Street. The event was held in the famous Spitalfields Market and was aimed at showcasing some of the amazing, creative independents that sell on the Not On The High Street site - and yup, our very own Rock On Ruby is one of them!

Weirdly, every time I head down South, the weather is beautiful, and this time was no different. Literally, the. hottest. day. of. the. year. Ergh!

Luckily my trusty old Topshop dress kept me cool, and my Mermazing bomber jacket from Rock On Ruby was the perfect lightweight cover up for on the train. This design is another of the fab illustrations created by the fab Dom and Ink for our Rock On Ruby range. I customised mine with the Magical and Fierce text on the front as I love positive, empowering statements.

FYI, these pumps are from Primark and are THE most comfiest pumps everrrr!

As you can see, my gorgey watercolour hair by Matrix is fading nicely (I'm totally getting this done again!!) See my hair story featuring their new Watercolour shades in my prevous blog post :-)

Beauty: Hair Fashion Night

Loreal Hair Fashion Night

You may remember that a few weeks ago, I was invited to try out the new Watercolour hair shades that Matrix launched. The colour is still going strong and is fading nicely into a lovely, peachy blonde colour! (You can follow my hair journey in my recent outfit posts and on instagram.)

As I'm embracing my new hair, I jumped at the chance to attend L'Oreal's Hair Fashion Night which was aimed at showcasing some of the "hot hair trends" in the fashion world right now. There were events happening all around the UK, so I was really pleased to see that Manchester was going to be one of the chosen cities!

Our styling session was held at the beautifully modern, Trevor Sorbie salon in Spring Gardens, where we were treated to backstage tips, cool new looks and a wheelbarrow of prosecco (literally!!) courtesy of The Botanist...

Some of the styles available on the night included, tousled Parisienne inspired locks, sleek and chic, twin braids (as favoured by the Kardashian crew!) and my personal fave - the double buns!!

I opted for the tousled waves as this is a look that I try to do  myself at home but often struggle to recreate that "undone" look. My hair stylist created this look with a hair straightner and recommended holding them facing down (vertically) rather than horizontally.

She finished this off by gently back combing some strands with her fingers to create a natural, bed head look and added some va-va-voom with the AMAZING Wild Stylers Panache spray. This is so, so, so good! I love a good texturising spray, but this includes texturising, dry shampoo and hair spray all. in. one. It's insanely good!

Which look would you be tempted to try?

FYI. I also picked up one of the steam stylers on the night so I'll be doing a review on this in the next few weeks..!!

OOTD: Bad Ass

Everything 5 Pound Bomber Jacket on Rock On Holly Fashion Blog

I've been holding onto these pics as I shot this look a few weeks ago (check out the blondey hair) and then had to delay posting it whilst we waited for stock to arrive.... But here it is, finally, in all it's BAD ASS glory! Yes, this outfit post showcases our brand new denim range on Rock On Ruby (my work - online this week!!) and how cool are these jeans??

They start at size 8, and I'm generally a 6 on the lower half, however, they fit fine around my waist and bum. The girls at work all have a pair and we do find that they fit true to size.

I went for the Bad Ass style as I liked the bold print and cheeky "ass" reference. However, as with all our clothing at work, you can also add the text of your choice to these jeans!

What would you have printed on yours?!

These is totally the kind of outfit that I'd wear for a few drinks or a meal at the weekend. The bomber jacket was a total bargain that I grabbed from Everything 5 Pounds before Christmas. Yes, it was £5. I LOVE that this has the letter 'A' on the front as I've been totally addicted to Pretty Little Liars recently!! Every time my boyfriend is at work and I have the house to myself, I'll stick on another cheesy episode. I'm just starting season 3 so no spoilers please...!!

In The Diary: Frock and Frill

Frock and Frill Spring Summer Collection

This blog post is well overdue! But it's been so hectic at work, I've had to cut down my blog posts from 3-4 a week, to 2. I don't want to compromise on the quality of my pics or posts, so I'd rather post less and be happy with what I put out there, than rush things and do a half-hearted job!

So here's an update on the Frock and Frill event that I attended a few weeks ago at their showroon in Manchester. I headed over for an evening of sequins, cocktails and sparkly accessories...

I've been a huge fan of the brand ever since I collaborated with them on my Valentine's Day blog post. There dresses are absolutely stunning - perfect for wedding guests, Bridesmaids, Prom nights and special occasions. And what I love about their pieces is that each dress is carefully hand beaded! Yes, these intricate designs are all beaded by hand!? It was so interesting talking to the team about how the dresses are made. It really makes you appreciate the patterns even more.

The colours for Spring / Summer are all so pretty! Not only do they feature the Pantone colours for this season - rose quartz and pale blue. They also include shimmering nudes, vintage shades of crem & beige and pure white lace. So dreamy!!

This blue embellished dress had to be my favourite from the new season's collection. The fuschia beading against the pale blue dress is so stunning and I love the deep V back. You can shop the range on the Frock and Frill website, but you might also recognise them from ASOS and Next!

We were also given a sneak peek at some of the gorgeous accessories that are coming to the range... How perfect are those clutch bags?! A great way to accessorise a Frock and Frill dress or f adding some sparkle to a simple party outfit.

Have you ever had anything from Frock and Frill before?

OOTD: Colorado Flowers

Cat Colorado Flowers Boots on the Rock On Holly Fashion Blog

Ok, so my shoe addiction is no secret, but LOOK. AT. THESE!!!

Wow! I had no idea what to expect when I got an email asking for my shoe size and stating that a flowery surprise was on the way to me in the post... So when I opened the box to reveal these beauties in the office at work, they were of course the subject of much discussion!

First of all, WOW. That print!

Secondly, what to wear with them?

There were a few suggestions... Dungaree shorts with a white tee. Boyfriend Jeans and a slogan top. Or mix it up and wear with a summery white dress and these chunky boots. They are so cool, comfortable and yet as they are Cat boots, practical. I can see these being a real winner during the festival season.

I teamed mine with my ASOS Farleigh jeans, striped breton style top and this raw edge denim shirt which I've worn as a "shacket".

Shacket definition according to the Urban Dictionary: A cross between a shirt and a jacket similar to the apparel of builders. Usage: Hey hans, take off that sexy shacket and come on over here baby.
