Rock On Ruby Shoot Day

Ahhh my gosh, what a year!

I'm not gonna lie, I hate it when people start blog posts with 'so sorry I haven't posted in a while' but, this is one of those posts!! :-S My main excuse? Well, I did get married earlier this year so all that planning kind of took up a lot of brain power... But mainly, BIG things have been happening at work and we predict even more mega awesome stuff coming up over the next 12 months.

From launching our new website, to developing some new product ranges and working on some seriously cool collabs, Rock On Ruby has taken on a life of it's own and we're gearing up for another crazy-busy Christmas period (fingers crossed!)

So! I wanted to check in and show you what I've been up to this weekend, mainly working on some awesome street style pics with Gypsy Shrine make up artist and Rainbow Tribe owner, Hina. We spent the morning searching out some cool locations in Manchester with photographer, Jack Gracie - keep an eye put for the pics on our Rock On Ruby site and social channels VERY soon...!!

Outfit of the Day: As I knew we'd be 'pounding the pavements' and possibly getting rained on, I knew that my new Superga trainers would be the perfect footwear for the day. It was the first time that I had worn them, but they were SO comfy and the nude colour made a nice change from my usual white trainers. Red is going to be HUGE this A/W and to be honest, I just love this new design from our Fashion week collection (coming online this week!!)

We finished the day with some well deserved coffee and cake in Takk. And on the way home I past through the Makers Market in the Northern Quarter and bagged these delish cupcakes from Weenie Bakes - just LOOK AT THOSE TOPPINGS!!? WOW.

Outfit: Sweatshirt - Rock On Ruby, Mom Jeans - Topshop, Shirt (just seen) Zara, Trainers - Superga* at Cloggs

Hope you like this look - and a sneak peek into the our shoot day!

Boho Jewellery - Her Curiosity

Boho Jewellery from Her Curiosity on the Rock On Holly Blog

It's rare that I dedicate an entire blog post to my jewellery pieces... Actually, it's quite rare that I bother with any jewellery apart from watches? But I recently received these beaut accessories from Her Curosity, and I thought this would be the best way to show off the stunning detail on these! Plus, as Summer comes, I really want to make more of an effort to accessorise and wear more jewellery...

I love the vibe behind the Her Curiosity brand, their belief is that "getting dressed is more than putting on clothes". Their pieces are very creative, bohemian and focus on the individuals style. (FYI, their Lookbook is stunning!! If you want some festival inspo for this Summer, then do check that out!)

I love that with the Boho Vibes, it generally seems to be the more jewellery, the merrier. You could literally layer up pretty much all of the pieces in this post - and still have room for another bangle and ring or two!

The pieces here are ornate and can easily be mixed and matched. However, if silver ain't your thang, I would still recommend that you check out their range as there are some stunning plaited, colourful necklaces and really cool boho designs...

Joules Wellies
Pic credit: The Sticky Fingers Blog

I've always been a fan of Joules Wellies... One of my bessies went to a Wedding on a farm and all the Bridesmaids were gifted Joules Wellies to wear to the Barn Dance. I thought this was such a cute idea! What's more, each girl was gifted a pair that suit her personality and style. The quirky prints and cute colours looked so fab in the wedding pictures!

Now it's your chance to get creative and design your very own pair of boots for this iconic brand...

Simply follow the link and submit a design before 4th December. If your design is picked, your boots will go on sale at Joules.com (how cool!)

Other prizes up for grabs include, a Luxury break in an actual Treehouse worth £5,000!! (Amazing.) And 10 runners up will receive £250 to spend at Joules.

And if you needed an extra incentive to enter, all proceeds from the sales will go to Charitably Joules :-)

You can have a sneak peek at the design I submitted below... I thought the pale blue colour was so cute - especially with a little raindrop design! By adding my own handwriting with the word "Splash!" these boots truly have my personal touch added to them!

If you choose to enter the competition, do send me your designs to see!

What To Wear: At The Races

Ok, at the risk of this looking like "an ode to ASOS" post, how GORGE are these ASOS Salon dresses?? I've been drooling over them since the start of Summer... But I have had a distinct lack of weddings and posh events to attend this year (only 1!!) so I haven't really had the opportunity to wear such finery. Welcome to my Pity Party.
However!! All this changed very recently, when I kindly got invited to Ladies Day at Doncaster races with Ladbrokes. YES!! So, what else is a girl to do but start planning a fabulous outfit?

I am spoilt for choice by the ASOS salon range. It's not every day you get to wear a full length ball gown or sticky out Prom Dress, but if you are going to go for a show stopping dress, I think the races is a suitable occasion! I love, love, love the sequin bodied dress (centre, bottom row!). The quirky detailing is perfect for making a style statement on ladies day.

White ASOS Salon Dress

I think... (but I may change my mind in 5 mins...) that this white ASOS Salon dress is my fave! Because, really, when you get to wear a lovely, white dress unless you're a Bride? There's something a bit Marilyn Monroe about this and it would allow you to go all out with statement accessories! There are so many gorge heels that caught my eye, but I think I'd complete my look with these blue ASOS heeled sandals (below) - the chunky heel is perfect for not sinking into the grass!

Then all that's left to do is find the perfect hat...

Which dress is your fave from the range?  Keep an eye on our race day fun on 10th September with #LadbrokesLadiesDay on Twitter!

OOTD: The Little White Skater Dress

Blogger Photoshoot With Catwalk Killa

You may remember my recent post from the Catwalk Killa launch party a few weeks ago... The clothing brand is set up by two BFFs - Lauren (a fashion blogging brunette) and Vicky (a well-travelled blonde!) and is based in Manchester. And what better location for a blogger photoshoot?!

Myself and some other fabulous bloggers, set up in front of one of Manchester's most iconic landmarks and posed our hearts out!

My gorgeous outfit was their White Skater Dress with Necklace. It was perfect for a Summery photoshoot! The material of the dress was very good quality, so even though it was white, I wasn't worried about it looking see through or having my underwear peek through.

As we were pretty lucky with the weather, the Catwalk Killa girls treated us to a little picnic after the shoot! Ooh there's nothing better than balloons and prosecco :-)

Cupcake Dresses!

Silvia Bours Dresses

So, following on from my Rock That Frock post last week, I'm continuing with the glam dress theme! :-) Now, I love a good Topshop dress just as much as the next girl… But when it comes to a special occasion or wedding, if you're anything like me, you won't want to get caught in the same dress as someone else!!

I'm always on the lookout for new, upcoming boutiques and designers - one of my favourite dress collaborations was with Lulus London Boutique last year and I currently have a slight obsession with Mr Self Portrait…

So I was really excited to discover these beautiful dresses by Silvia Bours. Silvia is a Mexico based designer who actually hand makes these flirty dresses! I love the ballerina-esque quality to the collection - so divine! And the shoes!! I'm in heaven…

Step Into The RI Style Studio...

River Island Style Studio
This weekend I was in London for the Fashion Chick Blogger Network Launch (more on that soon!) and I really wanted to make the most of my time in the big city, so I booked myself in at the brand spanking NEW River Island Style Studio for a wardrobe overhaul!

The Studio had literally just opened its doors the week before, AND OH MY GODDDDD!!! I actually just wanted to set up camp on their gorgeous peach sofas and live there forever. First of all, I was greeted by RI stylist Danielle, who I pretty much style stalk on instagram > Little Fash Bird and we had a little chat about the pieces that she had chosen for me...

I couldn't resist snapping some pics so that you guys can see how utterly GLAM it is. You could easily spend the whole day there, flicking through fashion books, drinking prosecco and watching people try on clothes!

I LOVE this jewellery stand! How cute is the Pineapple Bracelet?!

So, step into my dressing room... I had asked Danielle to find me some totally Blogworthy pieces that could be mixed into my current wardrobe, but give me a bit of an update for Spring / Summer. And that is absolutely what I got - think culottes, cami's, crops and prints! And the SHOES. Oooh the shoes! I have to admit, I am a bit of a Shoe Whore, and I could have easily walked out with all of the pairs that Danielle showed me.

I did worry that many shoe boxes wouldn't go down well on London transportation, so I resisted and I'll be heading online to complete my Spring Summer looks!

River Island Style Studio

This gorgeous grey jacket was £80 - unfortunately I can't see it on the site to link to it. But it is really lovely - quite lightweight and perfect for Spring.

Which are your faves?? Lace up and caged shoes are going to be HUGE this Summer, so I'd definitely recommend grabbing a pair. The metallic sliders are unbelievably comfy and I know I'll be rocking these to work on sunny days.

In LOVE with Dan's sequin blazer?! It's online now. I really like how she's managed to work silver sequins into her everyday outfit and not look too OTT (told ya she's a good'un to style stalk!)

I was so impressed with the Style Studio; with only a very simple brief, Danielle really picked out pieces that suited my style. Plus, she gave me some fab tips on how to mix all the pieces together - with RI bits and things I already have.

At the moment, the Style Studios are in London and Birmingham, but you can book in online. I'd definitely recommend the hour session as this gives you plenty of time to try on and enjoy your prosecco! :-)

I can't wait to blog about the gorgeous things I picked up - watch this space for plenty of OOTD posts #ImWearingRI !!

Have you ever been to a Personal Stylist before?

Trends Illustrated with Dom&Ink!

This weekend I put on my shiniest gold shoes and trendiest tee (Rock On Ruby of course!) and headed into the Manchester Arndale for an amaaaazing event. The team in the Arndale had joined up with Dom and Ink to offer FREE illustrated tshirts when you spent over £60 at any store in the Arndale. Not bad right?

First of all, it was payday weekend and secondly, there are SO many gorgeous things in the Arndale at the moment, it is SUPER easy to spend £60. Get some inspiration from the Manchester Arndale SS15 video!

So let's check out the Tees... I have to say hats off to the amazing Dom & Ink for coming up with the goods.. From Dinosaur, mermaids and unicorn prints to Taylor Swift quotes and emojis... I was actually spoilt for choice. I think I nearly had a small stress-attack from all the choice and the fact that I was taking so long and still couldn't choose because they were all so fab!!! WAHHH!!

With my designer sis (Lucy Pirates!) and Gail from Equinox Fashion

Yes, we're all smiling but I can tell Luce was thinking "just hurry up and pick a frickin' tee so I can put a dinosaur on mine..." (seriously, she's obsessed.)

We entered our designs into these massive iPad thingy's and then submitted them for printing. How cool is mine?! Unfortunately it didn't submit properly so I re-did it and changed my mind on the design (woops!). I can't WAIT to style up the finished look for an outfit post...

After all this exhausting design work, we just had time for a few Blogger selfies with Dom! Do you recognise any faces?!

You really, really really need to check out Dom and Ink on Instagram and his blog - Map My Style which links in micely with his new book, just FYI...

GIVEAWAY!! Make sure you enter my competition with Manchester Arndale and you could win £50 to spend at any of the stores in the centre (that includes the likes of Next, Topshop, New Look, H&M, Lipsy etc etc)

Which is your fave design from the tops above? Do you like mine?!
