Introducing The Stila Impressionist SS16 Collection...
Recently I was lucky enough to be invited Harvey Nichols in Manchester to meet Kaci Harabedian, the International Executive Director of Stila, to talk about their new Spring Summer Collection. And if her title sounds scary (it did to me) I needn't have worried at all... Kaci was extremely warm, friendly and most importantly, very passionate about the new range! (FYI, she also had the most amazing skin!!
That in part, had to be down to the gorgeously glowy, new make up range brought out by Stila for this Spring / Summer.
The Impressionist Collection focuses on lightweight, glowing skin, with a colourful matte lip and a pinch of colour in your cheeks! So let's find out a bit more about the products in the range...
Stila Aqua Glow Foundation
The aim of this product is to give your skin a flawless finish whilst hydrating. And I literally mean, your skin. This isn't a product that will hide and camouflage, Aqua Glow is super lightweight. Lightweight enough to allow your own skin to shine through - but for the Double Wear lovers out there, fear not! Aqua Glow also contains reflective pigments that blur out any imperfections and leaves a radiant finish.
Normally, at this point warning signs would be flashing up as I would generally take "reflective" to mean shimmery and "radiant" to mean shiny - and for oily combination skin like mine... That's usually a no no. However, in all honesty, I do really like this foundation. It's a great base for every day when I want to look instantly fresh faced and awake. I find that wearing a good primer underneath and a light dusting of powder on top, keeps this in place all day!
Aqua Glow Serum Concealer
This concealer has a similar lightweight consistency to the foundation, however it does provide great coverage. I really like this, especially for covering dark circles and evening out skin tone.
Its serum texture means that it doesn't sink into fine lines, so it works well around the eye area. It's an extremely complimentary product to the foundation as it they are both lightweight enough for you to build up your look and add extra coverage where you need it.
Stila Aqua All Day Liquid Lipstick in Chianti
Check. Out. This. Colour!!
OMG. I have to admit, when I first picked this up, I was a bit intimidated by the deep purple shade! EEK! However, I have worn this out and about (see instagram!) and I love how the matte finish, contrasts with the glowy foundation base.
Now this is matte, and it does have amazing staying power (like, it literally took a good scrub of my make up wipes to get this completely removed). However, I was surprised to see that whilst it had good staying power, it doesn't pass the "Kiss Proof" test if you like! When drinking tea, this did come off on my mug! Not a major issue, but do be careful around white shirts!
There are some gorge colours in the range, so if you want something more subtle, I'd recommend checking out Baci.
Convertible Colour Lip and Cheek Duo
Who doesn't love a good palette? The beauty of this one is that works for lips and cheeks. Win win.
The warm toned palette shown here (Sunset Serenade) is lovely for Spring Summer as they will really enhance a tan!
I love wearing creamy blushers in Summer as they allow your own skin to show through the sheer colour. These tones blend really easily (I apply with my fingers). Also enjoying the new shade Twilight Rose!
Have you tried anything from Stila before? Which products here have caught your eye?!
I thought my Mermazing make up bag from Rock On Ruby was perfect for keeping all my Stila goodies together! Those beautiful gold bottles, fit snuggly inside!
