In The Diary: Blogging With Biscuiteers

Biscuiteers Blogger Event Fashionchick

Last week I was invited down to London for a Bloggers Education session with FashionChick! Myself and the other girls from the Fashionchick Blogger Network were invited into the super cute, Biscuiteers HQ for an evening of blog talk with the likes of Dorothy Perkins, House of Fraser, Boohoo, and an opportunity to get our hands on decorating some biscuits!

As part of the education session, we got some great marketing advice from Jamie (Head of SEO for House of Fraser) and Jess, the Head of Digital Marketing for Dorothy Perkins shared her top tips for getting your blog noticed... Here's some of the useful pointers that she gave us:

1. Be The Blog! I love this :-)  it's so true! Let's face it, how many times have you typed That Pommie Girl into instagram when you actually need Sarahhascroft?! A lot of bloggers choose to have a blog account and a personal account on social media, some just have one for everything.  I choose just to have one Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest account etc and they all have the social handle @rockonholly, I think it makes it a lot easier for people to find you when your accounts are all the same and linked. Plus it really strengthens your "Blog Brand"

2. Find your USP!
As Jess says, there are a million and one blogs out there, so how are you going to make your little corner of the Internet stand out? I think that everyone has their own tone of voice when blogging and eye for photography (it's amazing how I've been to the same blog event as other girls and come away with completely different images!) But apart from that, what are you offering to your readers?
This is something that I think about a lot! I do find that a lot of my posts include style tips, and details on how I've put outfits together... And I am petite so hopefully I'm helping shorter girls out there too!

3. Find your style!
Don't just dress head to toe in the the latest trends... If it's not something that you would normally wear, it's going to come across in your blog. Think about the brands that fit in with your personal style and incorporate them naturally into your posts. When you have built up a portfolio of blogs, don't be afraid to introduce yourself by email and show how passionate you are about their brand.

Biscuiteers have recently teamed up with blogger Alice in Her Palace to create a box of fashionable biscuits - each based on her super stylish wardrobe. So it was great to be able to grab the icing and create our own... See the results below! What do you think of my Fashionchick branded sweater?!

Big thanks to FashionChick and The Biscuiteers for hosting such a fun and informative event! Take a peek at the Biscuiteers site if you fancy getting your hands on some of these sweet treats :-)

Let me know what you thought of the blog tips above ... Are there things that Jess has mentioned that you need to work on?
