OOTD: I Think I'm A Grown Up

Boden Coat and Winter Styling on Rock On Holly

Oh MAN I've missed my little blog!
As I may have mentioned once, twice, a million times.. work was pretty hectic before Crimbo, so I didn't have much time to spend on my blog. Surprisingly, January has been pretty busy too, what with work, hunting for a new car, and moving into a new house with my Hamsome fella!

(Crap. Am I a grown up now??)

It's crazy looking back over my blogging archive to see how much I wrote last year...  A whopping 165 posts!! :-O
Little did I know when I started to take this thing seriously last year, how far it would take me. I've worked with some ah-mazing brands. Seriously, ah-mazing. (Can I do a little name dropping here??) Some well known high street names like USC, New Look, Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins and unbelievably, ASOS and Topshop. And more!! And in Beauty, I've been introduced to some of my absolute faves like Soap & Glory, Magnitone, Charlotte Tilbury and Kiehls (I don't how I lived without their Ultra Facial Cream)

I will totally do a post on my fave finds from 2015 to round all this up.

I've been to some incredible events in Manchester, Birmingham and London - one of my faves being On Blackheath Festival with Nica Handbags. I've met some amazing people (including Alexa Chung) and met some super cool new pals (hey MCR bloggers!!)

BUT, my absolute highlight of the year has to be working with Fashionchick and being taken to actual Amsterdam Fashion Week. (OMG OMG OMG).

12 months ago, I could never, ever have imagined that this was in store for me. This year?? I am so ready for what this year will bring... It's scary and exciting as I know it will be a year of change.
But my point to you for 2016 is, this is your year, whatever you want from it, go get it!!! None of this, "Good things come to those who wait" crap, good things come to those who make the most of their time, write 165 blog posts (!) take opportunities and work frickin' hard.

Are you ready??

OOTD: Keep It Sassy

Keep It Sassy Rock On Ruby Top

Oh burgundy jacket, let me count the ways I love you!

Layered up over a Rock On Ruby vest and checked shirt - this look is perfectly Sassy for a casual day out! Ok, I admit...these pics were taken a few weeks ago during slightly warmer weather!! But even so, I think layers are key right now! :-)

I based this look around my new Miss Selfridge jeans - how "Rock Chick" are these bad boys?? I can't wait to dress them up with stilettos and a strappy top for a night out.

FYI, these jeans totally have the stretch factor. Event though they are skinny fit, they're extremely comfy and the high waist fits well.

OOTD: The Denim Midi Skirt

Miss Selfridge Denim Midi Skirt on Rock on Holly

Denim? Love.
70's on-trend styling? Check.
Longer length for A/W? Perfect.

This zip front skirt from Miss Selfridge was a clear winner in my eyes, as soon as I saw it hanging in store... But then came the conundrum of what to wear with it?? I didn't fancy trying to rock a little cropped tee as we headed into October, but would a sweater look shapeless? A denim shirt, too much?

What to wear with an A-line, denim midi skirt?

Hopefully you like the addition of this sleeveless grey polo neck tunic from Forever Modo! The style is snuggly but not too stifling on a bright, Autumnal day like today. To balance out the wide hem of the a-line skirt, I wanted to keep my top half quite fitted. I also found that this shorter length jacket complimented the look as it brings your eyes into the waistband.

My preppy, 70s look was completed with my fave Penny backpack and snakeskin boots!

Like I said, the length of this skirt is fab. I chose to got for my usual size and wear this high waisted. On the Miss Selfridge website, this has been styled on the model to be worn on the hips... Maybe that's because she's beautiful and tall?! I'm not sure. The choice is yours!

Tip: If you're worried about midi lengths being unflattering (especially on shorter ladies - like me!) then, this skirt is ideal. The split at the front allows a flash of leg without being too much for day time wear!

FYI, These lovely blue doors were spotted whilst visiting my BF in Winchester! The whole town is so gorgeous and blogworthy... I might just take my whole wardrobe down next time... Unfortunately, I did seem to have my camera on the wrong setting, so pics are slightly blurred compared to normal! (Waahh!)

Hope you like the look anyway :-) What do you think of the Denim Midi?

OOTD: The Most Beautiful Khaki Mac

Khaki Mac from Biba at House of Fraser

I feel like this is a bit of a different style for me... I'm not sure how, but I seemed to have passed through life without ever owning a Mac? EVER? How has this happened? As soon as I saw this gorgeous Khaki Mac on House Of Fraser, I knew this would be the Mac for me.

The beauty of this kind of coat, is that they are a timeless piece that never seem to go out of style. Whether they are khaki or classic cream, aMac can by styled up all year round, season after season, for all kinds of weather and occasions.

That's why, in my opinion, it's best to invest! These lovely jacket from Biba is made from a gorgeous material, with oversized gold button detail. For this outfit, I decided to keep this quite casual with my fave Topshop trainers, slouchy jeans and striped top.

However, I could easily dress this up with skinnys and a pair of courts (no doubt coming to the blog soon!)

May I quickly point out that these are the coolest jeans I own?? Massive thanks to G-Star Raw, every time I put these on, I feel like one of the cool kids at school ;-)

I wore this outfit to the launch of the Puffa A/W range - my last post!

OOTD: LFW As Seen On Me

Topshop Salt and Pepper Coat on Rock On Holly

So, I mentioned in my London Fashion Week round up post that I made a little visit to ASOS HQ whilst I was down South. Whilst there, I was given an exclusive sneak peek at their new AW collection and picked up a few bits to wear during LFW. I couldn't resist picking up this fluffy scarf!! Faux fur is going to be BIG this season, so I felt like this was the perfect finishing touch to complete my outfit.

I love how this matched so perfectly with my Topshop coat too! This beauty is only £69 - a bargain for such a gorge, tailored piece. It feels really expensive and the fur scarf actually looks like a collar for this when worn together - a happy accident :-)

The rest of my look was based on neutral colours and bold prints. I am developing a small obsession with snakeskin, and this skirt from River Island has already been a handy addition to my A/W wardrobe. Despite the bold print and leather finish, it actually matches really well with all the basics - white, black, grey. Simply add tights in Winter for a snuggly yet fashionable look.

To add a "blogger twist" to the look, I added a leopard print belt to the skirt. Risky, but I think the prints compliment each other... do you?!

These New Look Brogue Boots were the only shoes that I took to LFW and they were the perfect choice! Smart enough for night, but comfy enough for day. These fit the 70s styling that is so current right now and can be paired with both skirts and jeans. Winner winner!!

Below: My fave Penny bag, worn here as a backpack - I like that this gave my outfit a preppy feel.

OOTD: London Fashion Week - Day 1

Navy Boden Coat and Striped Trousers on Rock On Holly

I am extremely proud to admit, that I am now the proud owner of one very beautiful Boden Coat. This beauty, has been sitting in my wardrobe for a couple of weeks now, but I knew that couldn't just whip it out for any old occasion... It had to be a special occasion. A very stylish affair! Cos darling, this is mohair dontcha know!

So, I saved this little beauty for the super stylish few days that I spent down South for London Fashion Week. Now, the weather was pretty grim on the friday, but this coat kept me warm and dry as I rushed around London to get to meetings and shows!

This was my first time down to LFW, but it was really cool to get right into the thick of it and feel the fashionable buzz in the big city :-) I managed to cram a lot into my 48 hours in the big city, and I had actually only packed this one pair of boots to see me through. LUCKILY, they were perfect. No blisters or sore feet here! *Smug Face*

I love the 70s / preppy vibe that these red brogue boots have and the block heel was just high enough to be comfy but to make me feel a bit smarter than flats!

To complete my LFW Day 1 look - Stripes, stripes and stripes. These wide leg Topshop trousers are sooo comfy, I felt like i was in my PJs all day!

FYI, You may be seeing a lot of this Nica backpack on the blog soon... This spacious bag was a lifesaver during LFW! It was big enought to fit in a notebook, DSLR, Make Up Purse, Phone etc, but also is extremely versatile in that it can be used as both a backpack or cross body bag - LOVE it!
