So, this weeks "Tunesday Tuesday" Music post, is something a little different... And I am MOST excited about this, more than any of my other recommendations. I just think it's frickin' awesome!! I was recently sent the link to this vid as a "one to watch" and I loved it straight away. The video is super-cool with quirky, fun animations and the song is a real chilled out tune with a Summer time feel.
Listen to the words - it has a really simple message about how smiling can do magic in the world! And we could all do with a bit of that :-) :-) :-) :-) So, meet Emma Halpin: 11 year old, gold spectacle wearing, guitar playing, song writing, music genius. Also slightly obsessed with the Walking Dead series...
Like, seriously, I wish I was that cool when I was 11. Whaddya think guys?? If you're a fan, give her a big thumbs on her Youtube channel! Also, don't forget to enter my £25 gift card giveaway - really easy enter, just guess to win!
So... it's crunch time for Hozier, after the epic success of Take Me To church, the hairy singer dude now has the pressure of releasing an equally awesome follow up single... Well not to worry, because literally after the first 3 notes, I KNEW I was going to love this and I wasn't disappointed!! (YAY HOZIER!)
The video features Natalie Dormer who you may recognise from Tudors (a must watch) Hunger Games and that other thing you might have heard of, Games of Thrones or something?! There's something about Natalie that I really love. She's so cool, she even makes an undercut look unreal.
Remember when Tay Tay strutted onto the scene, singing about how she knew Trouble had walked in? And we were all like, "Yeah, you go Tay!!" cos, you know, we've probably all had one of those moments at one time or other.... Well THIS song, by Iggy Azalea and Jennifer Hudson is literally going make Taylor's troubles look like a walk in the park. Yes, they're not the most obvious duo, but this absolutely works. This amazing "girl power" anthem is going to have you hitting the dance floor this Summer. Skip to around 4 mins and 35 seconds to see the girls rockin' it at the iHeart Awards. And if you really stick around, you'll be able to see Nick Jonas doing his thing and that's pretty good too!
What do you think of Iggy and Jen's collab? Better than Iggy and Rita?!
It's been a crazy busy week this week, with blogging events and work! So it was nice to get whisked off to a super-chilled out gig at The Albert Hall on Monday. My boyfriend and I went to see Nick Mulvey, and he was ah-mazing! In all honesty, G-Ham booked the tickets that long ago that we got there and we were both a bit like, "what does he sing again...?" But, you NEED to check this guy out. He's totally the new Ben Howard but with an slight Spanish / flamenco influence. (He studied music in Havana, Cuba and is awesome on the guitar!) If you've heard of Nick before, it's probably due to his biggest hit Cucurucu. The Albert Hall venue is also pretty cool, so I would highly recommend keeping an eye on their calendar to see who's coming up...
Here's a little taster of one of Nick's hits. This video will totally get you in the mood for the Summer / festival season....
- Nick said this song reminds him of Glasto. What does it remind you of?
"You're really not alone in this world when you have love. Without love we're alone, we just, we exist. The world is shit without love, I can promise you, you need love in this world."
I love the opening monologue to this vid. The whole video is just like a mini movie - so cool. I heard this as Radio 1's track of the day last week and just knew it was going to be one of my Tunesday Tunes on the Blog!! Also love Josef's other hit Shoot and Run and his cover of Rihanna's Diamonds. What do you think?
So Rihanna is back with a bang! Following her epic tune with Sir Paul and Kanye, Rhi Rhi has brought out what is apparenly her first solo single in TWO years!! Wow! I heard an interview with Rihanna when she was working on her last album and she said that she had spent a long time picking and creating songs that "only Rihanna could do" and were recognisably "Rihanna-esque". So I was really surprised to hear this latest single as it is SOOOO different to her usual stuff. Found this epic cover by Jacob McCaslin on Youtube and had to share! What do you think of Rhianna's new tune??
Yes, this weekend I finally got to see the most highly anticipated film of the year… 50 Shades of Grey! I think I may be one of the very few girls who HASN'T read the book, so I really had no idea what to expect…. And it was a bit crazy! Yes, there is a LOT of nudity in it and yes Jamie Dornan is pretty darn hot, but apart from that… ?! I can't really make my mind up on it?! I'm kind of intrigued to find out why Grey is so messed up, but I reaaaaally don't get why the books / film have been so hyped up. I can see why there have been some critics shouting out that this is a really bad "glamorisation" of what is actually an unhealthy relationship. On another note, the sound track was pretty awesome! I love Ellie Gouldings title track "Love me like you do", but I thought Beyonce's updated of version of Crazy In Love was perfect for the film. I love a good cover so I thought I'd share Sofia Karlberg's version. (17 million views can't be wrong.) Have you seen the film and what did you think of it?
Well, she's back with a BANG! Yes the video for this is dark and weird, yes there is a moment that will scare the life out of you... So yes, maybe it is best just to close your eyes and listen to what is yet ANOTHER, epic tune from Florence and the Machine. Flozza has been way up there in my top fave bands since day 1! Watching her live at V Festival a couple of years ago, with a group of pals and the most glorious sunset, is something I'll never forget. Now she's back with a whole new album and I CAN'T WAIT to play it on repeat until I know all the words...
I LOVE having a golden glow! Nothing perks you up more than a flush of colour, especially during the miserable Winter months... I have long been a fan of Cocoa Brown tan (especially their Lovely Legs spray) so I wanted to share with you these 3 tips to getting the perfect tan for your date this Valentine's Day... Step 1) When it comes to tanning, preparation is key!! Remove rough, dry, flaky skin on the skin by exfoliating. Luckily for us, Cocoa Brown have in their range a TOUGH STUFF Body Scrub... FYI - don’t be fooled by the pretty pink colour of the tube or scrub! TOUGH STUFF contains finely ground pumice which will do a far better job of exfoliating than your usual apricot or walnut kernel body scrubs. Tip: Start at your toes and work your way towards your heart to get your
blood flowing and increase your circulation. This will bring oxygen to
your skin cells, making it appear more healthy and radiant. Bonus! Pay particular attention to areas such as your hands, feet, elbows and knees which often get dry. Step 2) Now you've exfoliated, your skin will be at its most absorbent so slap on that moisturiser! Now, I always thought that a moisturiser would act as a barrier for my tan, but actually Cocoa Brown's Chocolate Whip Oil-Free Body Moisturiser, hydrates and plumps skin, preparing it for your tan. Plus it sounds and smells delicious... The best thing about this is that Chocolate Whip won’t leave your skin feeling greasy or oily so you can
dress within minutes of application. Tip: Apply this everyday in the lead up to your Valentines Day tanning and a small amount to knees, elbows and feet on the day you are applying your tan.
Step 3) You are now ready to apply your tan!! I'd recommend Cocoa Brown's 1 HOUR TAN DARK. It's best to apply this using a mitt (Cocoa Brown do these too and their pink tanning mitts are actually quite hard wearing) Make sure you sweep the mitt back and forth with the product to ensure a streak-free result. The best thing about the 1 HOUR TAN is that it's a brown mousse formulation so you can see exactly where you are applying it - and it’s fast drying too. Bonus? It has no fake tan pong!! Leave it to develop for 1, 2 or 3 hours, depending on how dark you’d like your tan to look. Tip: Once you rinse your 1 HOUR TAN, you can add an additional layer of Chocolate Whip everyday to lock in moisture and extend the life of your Cocoa Brown glow. Of course, Chocolate Whip has the added benefit of making you smell irresistible for that special someone too making it a Valentines Day beauty essential! ;-) If you'd like to try Cocoa Brown Tan you can get it from Superdrug, Primark or online at my fave beauty stockists www.feelunique.com What are your plans for Valentines Day?!
I am sooooo hooked on Broadchurch right now. I CANNOT believe that it has had poor reviews and declining viewing figures. It's such a good "whodunnit" and I love, love, love Olivia Coleman!! Anyways, I digress! This vid is the brand new single from Laura Doggett and is featured in the ITV Broadchurch trailer. I love it. She has such a great tone to her voice and you can totally get into this if you're driving along in your car (cue plenty of embarassing moments where you get caught channelling Mariah at the lights...) Have you heard of Laura Dogett before? Let me know what you think!
