Beauty: Day To Night with Kiehls

Kiehls Skin Care

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to the Trafford Centre to get an introduction to Kiehls. I LOVE stuff like this. I don't know if it's just me... But I get kinda weird about approaching beauty counters? I mean, there are SO many of them!? It's like, where do you begin? How do you know their products are for you? It's actually quite a good idea to book some time in with a counter and get to know a bit more about what they do.

So! There were two things that I knew about Kiehl's before I visited their stand in Selfridges...

1) They always have really cool looking counters with a skeleton (Or Mr. Bones as he is officially known!)
2) They have a really well known, well talked about product called Midnight Recovery Concentrate.

The aim of my session was to get to know about the brand and some of their products a bit more. And, I was actually really surprised. It wasn't what I was expecting at all! Did you know Kiehl's have been around since 1851???? That's ancient. Starting off as an apothecary in New York, Kiehl's developed their own range of skincare products based on science but focusing on natural ingredients.

They have a huge range of products, but I wanted to find out more about their most popular item, and also their brand NEW Daily Reviving Concentrate. Created to work hand in hand with their highly coveted, Midnight Recovery Concentrate, the daytime version has launched just last week, to a demanding waiting list...

Kiehl's theory is that, if your skin is in the best condition and health that it can be, the healthier and ultimately, better it will look. As the concentrate contains Ginger Root, this actually helps repair your skin. I can actually say that I have witnessed this first hand!

Little story for you! You know when you slice an apple and if you leave it for a while it will start to turn brown? Throughout my session with Kiehl's, I hadn't realised that there was a sliced apple in front of us that didn't turn brown the whole time I was there. Why? It was coated in Daily Reviving Concentrate. Now that's the science behind Kiehl's that I LOVE!

To Use: Squeeze 2-3 drops onto your palms and rub together to warm the oil. Pat lightly onto your face and neck.

This is absolutely gorgeous. Each of Kiehl's products is literally like giving yourself a mini facial. I was concerned about using an oil on my oily-combination skin; at first I was bit like "put this under my foundation?? Really??" But NO! It seems to be absolutely fine? This is really lightweight so I have been using it in place of my serum and then applying the Ultra Facial Oil-Free Lotion as a moisturiser after.

Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate

So for night time! The Midnight Recovery Concentrate. This contains essential ingredients such as Evening Primrose Oil and smells deliciously of Lavender. The aim of this is to moisturise your skin and leave you with younger looking skin.

Whenever I use this, I do wake up with a more radiant glow. The oil isn't greasy at all - even when applying with your hands, it doesn't leave a messy residue. It's actually quite a nice addition to my evening routine, as it's quite soothing to apply and really feels like a luxury product.

To compare, I would rate this on par with Estee Lauder's Advanced Night Repair - and anyone who know me will know how much I rave about that. This however, comes in slightly cheaper at £36 for a 30ml bottle.

FYI, for super fans, there is an eye cream version of this which I must try...

Kiehls Midnight Recovery Concentrate

Whilst I was at my session, Kiehl's kindly gave me a few samples to try. I would definitely recommend visiting a store and asking about this, as it's a great way to try new products that you might not normally.

For example, the Orange Flower and Lychee bodywash is beeeeautiful! It's a foaming cleanser that really leaves skin feeling soft and smelling great. AND they have a matching fragrance which I had had in my handbag all week and LOVE! This reminds me of an old fragrance that I used to have (possibly Hugo Boss?) the zesty scent is really refreshing.

I also got picked up a sample of the Rosa Arctica Eye Cream, and from using the sample alone, I knew this had to be mine! It was SO gorgeous! The sample sachet lasted me a good week - which I was really impressed about. So I know the pot that I have now, will definitely keep me going for a while.

Again, Kiehl's recommend warming the product between your fingers before applying it, and when you do, this goes on so silky smooth... It's like patting velvet around your eyes! This formula aims to reduce fine lines around your eyes (just what I need!) and moisturising the delicate skin.

This one's a winner for me. I definitely want to invest in the face cream version of this.

Have you tried anything from Kiehl's before?

If not, which product has caught your eye?!
