OOTD: Knits and Pleats

Old Harry Jumper and Pleated Skirt

Knits and Pleats. Not your every day outfit combo!

But, everytime I've been out recently, I've worn jeans. So, I wanted to come up with an outfit that I could wear for a nice meal or drinks out in town, that wouldn't include denim!

So I have paired my chunky Old Harry knit with this gorge pleated skirt from ASOS. This skirt is so pretty! It fits really well and has a lovely high-waisted style. You could easily tuck a slinky cami into this and wear as a "Wedding Guest" outfit.

And yes, these are the best heels in the world because they have ACTUAL Pom Poms on! *Swoon*

Trend Tip: Pale pink and blue are THE colours for Spring/Summer this year. Have a look in any high street store and there's no doubt you'll see something in either of these shades!

Special shout out to Cocoa Brown Tan and their instant, matte tanning gel*!! It's Uh-mazing and transformed my pasty pins! As it was a last minute tan-dash, I was a bit worried that it would smell or stain my skirt, but it stayed put and was lovely & floral! :)

Hope you like the look! Would you ever dress up a knit for a night!?

OOTD: Can You Really Save Money In The Sales?

River Island Fur Jacket

So, everyone always says, to save money, you should unsubscribe from all your shopping emails... I disagree. Yeah ok, the ones that scream "New In! Buy Me Now!" Aren't going to help your bank balance, but I think if you're a savvy shopper, you can actually save money?!

(Bear with me whilst I try and justify this...)

For example, I recently got the *River Island Flash Sale* email and as a result, I picked up this gorge Rust coloured, wool blend coat (£45) and a couple of pairs of boots. Did I need the coat? No. Will I wear it? Absolutely. Would I have bought it at full price? (£90) Definitely not.

But, I have seen this rust brown colour on a few colour trend charts for AW16, so I can wear this now whilst it's cold and wintery and also next AW!

Similarly, these boots that I'm wearing now, I picked up in the RI Sales this time last year. At the time, we were heading into Spring and it was unlikely that I would need black leather boots... However, 6 months later, and I wear these boots ALL. THE. TIME. RRP around £75, I paid around £35 - a huge saving!

With London Fashion Week in full swing, now is a great time of year to be looking ahead at the next trends.

This stunning Fiorelli bag was a birthday present and this was the first time that I had used it. It's deceptively spacious and amazing quality. I can fit my camera, purse, make up bag and keys in (although it is a bit snug!) I'll definitely be checking out Fiorelli for other items (maybe a new matching purse!?)

OOTD: LFW As Seen On Me

Topshop Salt and Pepper Coat on Rock On Holly

So, I mentioned in my London Fashion Week round up post that I made a little visit to ASOS HQ whilst I was down South. Whilst there, I was given an exclusive sneak peek at their new AW collection and picked up a few bits to wear during LFW. I couldn't resist picking up this fluffy scarf!! Faux fur is going to be BIG this season, so I felt like this was the perfect finishing touch to complete my outfit.

I love how this matched so perfectly with my Topshop coat too! This beauty is only £69 - a bargain for such a gorge, tailored piece. It feels really expensive and the fur scarf actually looks like a collar for this when worn together - a happy accident :-)

The rest of my look was based on neutral colours and bold prints. I am developing a small obsession with snakeskin, and this skirt from River Island has already been a handy addition to my A/W wardrobe. Despite the bold print and leather finish, it actually matches really well with all the basics - white, black, grey. Simply add tights in Winter for a snuggly yet fashionable look.

To add a "blogger twist" to the look, I added a leopard print belt to the skirt. Risky, but I think the prints compliment each other... do you?!

These New Look Brogue Boots were the only shoes that I took to LFW and they were the perfect choice! Smart enough for night, but comfy enough for day. These fit the 70s styling that is so current right now and can be paired with both skirts and jeans. Winner winner!!

Below: My fave Penny bag, worn here as a backpack - I like that this gave my outfit a preppy feel.

OOTD: My Go-To Outfit

Rock On Holly Mom Jeans and Bomber Jacket

So, just a quick post today as I'm heading out for my friends birthday this evening and basically I need to sort my life hair out...

This month has been literally non-stop, so I kind of wanted to use this post as a little catch up - even bloggers need a day off! And this is literally my go-to outfit when I don't have the brains to think of what to wear.

You've probably seen these pieces styled up several different ways on my blog before... The River Island jacket (now sold out!) was a big hit on my Stripes and Horcruxes blog post and these Topshop Mom Jeans will probably have to be peeled off my cold, dead body when I'm 93 (please god, I survive that long!). They are SO unbelievably comfy and versatile too. I've styled them with everything from oversized sweaters to cute cami vests (see my Portobello Style blog post!)

Of course, weverone needs a basic grey vest and for footwear, you can't beat a pair of comfy flats or loafers. These beauts are from Primark - how awesome is their "shoe game" recently??? Well played Primark.

I'm actually pretty devo-ed that I seem to have lost these sunglasses somewhere between Ireland and the UK on a recent trip.... So I'm currently on the hunt for a new / similar pair. If you have any suggestions I'd love to know!

What's your go to outfit on your lazy days?!

Step Into The RI Style Studio...

River Island Style Studio
This weekend I was in London for the Fashion Chick Blogger Network Launch (more on that soon!) and I really wanted to make the most of my time in the big city, so I booked myself in at the brand spanking NEW River Island Style Studio for a wardrobe overhaul!

The Studio had literally just opened its doors the week before, AND OH MY GODDDDD!!! I actually just wanted to set up camp on their gorgeous peach sofas and live there forever. First of all, I was greeted by RI stylist Danielle, who I pretty much style stalk on instagram > Little Fash Bird and we had a little chat about the pieces that she had chosen for me...

I couldn't resist snapping some pics so that you guys can see how utterly GLAM it is. You could easily spend the whole day there, flicking through fashion books, drinking prosecco and watching people try on clothes!

I LOVE this jewellery stand! How cute is the Pineapple Bracelet?!

So, step into my dressing room... I had asked Danielle to find me some totally Blogworthy pieces that could be mixed into my current wardrobe, but give me a bit of an update for Spring / Summer. And that is absolutely what I got - think culottes, cami's, crops and prints! And the SHOES. Oooh the shoes! I have to admit, I am a bit of a Shoe Whore, and I could have easily walked out with all of the pairs that Danielle showed me.

I did worry that many shoe boxes wouldn't go down well on London transportation, so I resisted and I'll be heading online to complete my Spring Summer looks!

This gorgeous grey jacket was £80 - unfortunately I can't see it on the site to link to it. But it is really lovely - quite lightweight and perfect for Spring.

Which are your faves?? Lace up and caged shoes are going to be HUGE this Summer, so I'd definitely recommend grabbing a pair. The metallic sliders are unbelievably comfy and I know I'll be rocking these to work on sunny days.

In LOVE with Dan's sequin blazer?! It's online now. I really like how she's managed to work silver sequins into her everyday outfit and not look too OTT (told ya she's a good'un to style stalk!)

I was so impressed with the Style Studio; with only a very simple brief, Danielle really picked out pieces that suited my style. Plus, she gave me some fab tips on how to mix all the pieces together - with RI bits and things I already have.

At the moment, the Style Studios are in London and Birmingham, but you can book in online. I'd definitely recommend the hour session as this gives you plenty of time to try on and enjoy your prosecco! :-)

I can't wait to blog about the gorgeous things I picked up - watch this space for plenty of OOTD posts #ImWearingRI !!
