How To Get Motivated To Get Fit!

So it's coming up to Summer and it's time to start getting beach body ready! However, if you're anything like me, it can be quite hard to drag your sorry ass to the gym after a long day at work or when it's cold, dark, windy.... etc etc!

However, recently I was challenged by the guys at DW Fitness to join their fitness revolution and take part in a 40 day fitness challenge. And it really worked!! So here are my top tips to get motivated to get fit:

1. Have a REALISTIC plan

When I joined the #FitnessRevolution the team at DW Fitness sent me over a 40 day fitness plan. This included short activities for each day (with Sundays as a rest day, phew!) that could easily fit into your daily routine. Things like sets of squats, planking, 20 minute jogs and even simple things like taking the stairs that day. Each challenge was achievable and most importantly, do-able.

2. Join A Class

If you don't think you can be strict enough with yourself to workout at home, join a class! If you find one that you like, it will soon become part of your routine. Think of it as something that you HAVE to do, like going to work, and you'll be less likely to try and skip it!

3. Give Yourself a Deadline

My challenge was for 40 days which was great as it stopped me from putting working out off until "tomorrow". Again, it was really do-able and it kind of gave me a point where I could stop and compare my fitness from before the challenge to after.

There are plenty of challenges out there like 30 day squat, sit up, plank challenges. The great thing about the DW fitness plan is that it includes a range of activities. Find one that suits you!

4. Get some cool Gym Gear!!

Everyone seems to be going crazy for fashionable fitness wear this year! And why not?! Gone are the days when you throw on an old baggy tee and hit the treadmill. Getting fit is totally on trend right now, so why not get gym gear that you look and feel good in? You're definitely less likely to avoid the gym that way!

I love this slogan vest from Rock On Ruby - it's part of the RockTheGym range and is really appropriate for getting motivated to get fit... NO EXCUSES!!

5. Get your buddy's involved!

It's always good to have a gym buddy so that you can motivate each other. When one of you doesn't feel like working out, the other will! During my fitness challenge I took part in Twitter chats (check out #FitnessRevolution ) and it was good to share tips and stories to see how everyone else was getting on.... FYI, apparently people who share fitness updates online are less likely to quit! #Justsayin

So are you feeling motivated yet?! If you have any fitness tips, leave them below!

As a treat for completing my 40 days of fitness challenge, I was sent an amazing box of goodies to trial... I'll be filling you in in these soon!

  8. Ahhh no way! I think the hardest bit is getting going, once you're in a routine it's ok... Tell your friend it will just be ONE session and then see how you get on! xx
